Rev. Robert Johnson, Jr. was born and raised in the Dresden Green community of Lanham, Maryland. The son of Rev. and Mrs. Robert Johnson, Sr., Rev. Johnson is the product of several generations of pastors and preachers. His paternal grandfather, the late John Wesley Johnson, was the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden until God saw fit to call him to a better home. Rev. Edgar Johnson, his maternal great grandfather, also pastored a church (the Church of God) in the metropolitan area before he was called home to Glory. Rev. Johnson submitted to the will of God to preach the Gospel in 1994. Under the leadership of his father and pastor, Rev. Robert Johnson, Sr., he preached his initial sermon February 6, 1994 at the New Mount Nebo Baptist Church of Capitol Heights, Maryland. “One generation shall praise thy works to another and shall declare thy mighty acts.” Psalms 145:4
Rev. Johnson joined hands with Patricia Chandler Johnson in holy matrimony on June 24, 1995. From this union, God blessed them with one daughter, Bobbi Denise, who has filled their hearts with joy from the very day He made her a part of their lives. Wesley Robert and Patrick Chandler, two small packages born to the Johnsons May 26, 2004, were only allowed to live here on earth a short while. Even though God took them home to be with Him within hours of their birth, they will be loved and remembered for an eternity. “Therefore, shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Genesis 2:24
Rev. Johnson served as pastor of the Living Testimony Missionary Baptist Church for 13 years, a mission he co-founded with God in 1997. In December 2010, the Lord gave him and his father a vision to come together to expand the work of the ministry. Living Testimony united with The New Mount Nebo Baptist Church of Capitol Heights as “one body in Christ” December 31, 2010. Rev. Johnson continues to honor the Lord and embrace His people as he pastors the New Mount Nebo Baptist Church along with the senior pastor, Rev. Robert Johnson, Sr. The amalgamation of these two Branches has brought new excitement, growth and energy to the hearts and minds of the pastors as well as the members! Rev. Johnson made a vow to the Lord that he would carry His Word wherever He sends him. This servant of the only true and living God is excited about continuing in the way of the Master and eager to obey Him with passion and conviction in the assignments ahead! “Also, I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?
